Pour the wine and cut the cheese! I can't think of a better way to ring in the holidays, both Thanksgiving and Christmas, than to learn new tricks and recipes for the kitchen. You could ring up grandma, or maybe you want to try your hand at something new and gourmet. If that is the case, you're in luck. Bayview Thriftway in downtown Olympia offers its own chef quality cooking school.
Cooking classes for beginners through advanced introduce ethnic cuisine, regional dishes, holiday preparation, and cooking with kids. Cookbook authors, regional chefs, and a talented cooking school staff teach the classes which meet throughout the month. Every other Friday the Bayview Cooking school hosts Fridays Uncorked where you can sample fine wines and learn to pair them with their best menu companion.
Classes run from $15 to $50 depending on the intensity of the menu, and Saturday cooking classes for kids run between $25 and $30. A full calendar of classes can be found on the Bayview Cooking School website.
