We've asked for it, hoped for it, and finally we're going to get it.The Yelm Cooperative -an umbrella organization that includes the Yelm Food Co-op, a community garden and food education project scheduled to get underway this year, and the farmers market - has finally found a manager to get a farmers market underway for the upcoming 2012 growing season. They are in the final stages of approval by the city for a location and are compiling farmers, processors and artisans to set up booths.
This means a vibrant farmers market that will bring the community together in a festive atmosphere to support local agriculture. What do you want to see offered at the farmers market? You can tell the market manager, Geana Henkes: firstname.lastname@example.org.Because the Yelm Cooperative is organizing the project, there will be a strong emphasis on sustainable foods and products from vendors really close to home.
