Active Duty Military sometimes have a really hard time finding a good place to stay when they first arrive at Fort Lewis. If your rental or new home is not ready for move in, you might think the easiest place to wait it out would be on-post guest quarters.
A friend and client recently spent a couple of weeks waiting for closing on their Yelm home and found that the Prairie Hotel in Yelm beat out on-post temporary lodging hands down in both dollars and quality of space. They came in with two car loads of luggage, four kids, a dog and a need for double room space. The two-room spread they rented from the Prairie Hotel cost less than the smaller one-room offered by the Fort Lewis housing department. The rooms are elegant and quite large with a microwave and mini refrigerator. There is plenty of space for your dog and kids to spread out. The movie theater is just across the parking lot, and the hotel is convenient to everything downtown Yelm has to offer. The staff was courteous and helpful allowing use of their fax and guest office equipment for business needs.
If you already live in the greater Olympia area and are planning to come to the Yelm Chamber of Commerce annual barn dance on November 11th, you may consider the Prairie Hotel's barn dance special of a one-night dual occupancy stay complete with a courtesy limo ride to and from the dance for only $59. This is an outstanding value for a really high class hotel.
