I found a gem of a store in Yelm that I had no idea existed until I happened to be heading down State Route 507 between Yelm and Rainier and looked left.Prim Pickins is an adorable little antique store with really big character. On first glance, the store appears to be a typical antique junk shop that one might find in any countryside with rusty parts and leftovers from your grandma's attic or grandpa's tool shed. What drew me in was the red wooden ladders that I had just seen pictures of in Country Home magazine being used as a trellis for flowers and bean plants.I decided to stop in and take a closer look. What I found when I walked inside was a delightful shop full of old time antiques and rustic-refinish furniture ready to buy and place directly into your home.I didn't even know we had such a quaint store in Yelm.I generally drive into Sumner or Centralia for antique shopping, but this one was every bit as good as the ones on main street in those two towns.
Prim Pickins doesn't have a website, but I found them on facebook. They put up pictures of what's for sale in the store periodically. The store hours are a bit squirrely. The sign says opened every 3rd Friday, Saturday & Sunday of each month or by appointment/chance.So, I guess I got lucky on my timing.Still, if you're looking for shabby chic, up-cycled or true country cottage decor, you will do well to "take a chance" with Prim Pickins in Yelm.

" Brandi spent an entire Saturday running my husband (who had just flown in for a couple days from Connecticut) all around to different towns near and far from the Olympia area. She was very friendly and professional in every interaction we have had, and she always looked out for our best interests. I believe she sincerely wanted to help us find the perfect house to suit our preferences. In addition, she drove to several homes that we were interested in and made videos so that we could get a clear idea of what the houses and neighborhoods were like. I wholeheartedly recommend working with Brandi! Best experience we've ever had with a realtor, hands down. "
