The 38th annual Steilacoom Apple Squeeze will be held on Sunday October 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Steilacoom. There will be a street fair with quality hand crafts, and music all day by Spot the Dog, Kristi and Steve Nebel, and The Alicia Healey Group, and of course there will be the apple presses for making cider the old fashioned way.
Organizers are also selling the award-winning Lattin’s Country Cider, already pasteurized in jugs. Danny Marshall, Steilacoom Tribal storyteller, will relate tales in the Wagon Shop on Main Street at 2 p.m. Quality handcraft booths and a variety of food booths will line Lafayette Street. Crafts will include woodworking, fabric art, jewelry, fine arts and more. Many of the food booths relate to the apple such as apple pie, apple butter on bread, apple fritters, caramel apples and hot spiced cider. A recent addition to the traditional food booths is the cider float booth.
Activities for children will include games, pumpkin walks, face painting. Pony rides begin at noon. The new 2011 Museum calendar full of beautiful photos of Steilacoom will be hot off the press and available for sale.
The folks at the Apple Identification Booth will answer all your questions about apple trees and you will be able to enjoy apple pie in Town Hall in addition to other good foods. Organizers hope to have a few surprise activities as well, so mark your calendar and come down for a fun-filled day.
While the event is sponsored by the Steilacoom Museum Association, other community groups take part also. The Key Club from the Steilacoom High School will be organizing childrenʼs activities, local Boy Scout Troop #71 will help in the cider press area, and the Pioneer Middle School Builderʼs Club lends a hand putting apples into buckets for the presses.

"Brandi's patience and professionalism is what I will carry with me from this experience. My home purchase became quite the extended mess, set back after set back, on the sellers part. Without Brandi's ability to explain all the steps we were having to take and retrace, I would have lost my patience. And not once during the whole stereotypical real estate "nightmare" did she lose her cool. Brandi made my first home buying experience one I'll never forget, in a good way!
