If you have pre-teens or teens you know that the cost of clothing for school goes up exponentially each year.Teens are more conscious about style and about brand than their younger counterparts.School shopping can be an exercise in debt accumulation and teeth grinding for parents and their kids.I stumbled across a great compromise in shopping this year – Plato’s Closet in Olympia.
Plato’s Closet is a national, upscale resale shop for pre-teens, teens and young adults. The top brands are there, the best resale quality, but so are the resale prices. We found Aeropostale jeans for $10 and light-weight jackets for $8, Hollister shirts for $4 and some cute accessories to go with it all. They also carry brand name clothes for teen boys.Since the quality is carefully scrutinized, you get a good deal on gently used clothes that make sense for your pocket book and for your teen’s picky sensibilities.
Olympia’s store is located at 1540 Cooper Point Rd. across from Barnes and Noble.Tacoma also has a store. These stores also have an adorable website that includes current trends in clothing and a blog that lets you see what the teens are wearing these days in advance of your shopping trip.Between the two area stores, school shop doesn’t have to be so painful.
